At Cerebral Beach, we fuse the energy of LA’s relentless innovation scene with a commitment to balance and well-being. It’s not just about working hard—it's about working smarter and living well.

02

Who can attend?

All participants must be 18+. Everyone with (or without) experience in building AI applications (using code, or no-code platforms) is encouraged to apply.

This event is an in-person only hackathon. All participants must apply and be accepted to participate.

03

Can I or someone on my team attend remotely?

Unfortunately, no. This event is an in-person only hackathon. All team members must check-in at the venue and be present for judging to be eligible for project submission.

04

Is there a cost?

Admission is 100% free for all hackers, thanks to our sponsors!

05

Where will Cerebral Beach Hacks be held?

The hackathon will be in Downtown Santa Monica, a 2-minute walk from a16z's new office.

06

How long is the hackathon?

The hackathon runs for 24 hours, from 11am Saturday to 11am Sunday. Our project exposition, judging, and awards ceremony follow the hacking period.

07

How many people can we have per team?

Team sizes are capped at 5 people. Single-person teams are allowed, however, we encourage you to utilize our team-matching sessions to find like-minded team-mates!

08

Does everyone on my team need to apply?

Yes. All team members must apply and be accepted to attend the hackathon. If you and/or your team members enter each other's emails on the application, you will receive the same admission decision.

09

What if I don't have a team?

That's totally okay! We'll have two team-making mixers before the event (one in Venice, CA and one on Zoom) for you to meet your dream team. We'll also have a matchmaking session day of the hackathon as well for last-minute teammaking!

10

Do I need to hack towards a track? Can I spectate?

Each team will need to select one of our 5 tracks as they start working on a project. Everyone who enters the event venue must be working on a project- we do not have capacity for spectators.

11

How can I register?

Please apply on apply.cerebralbeach.com by October 5th, 2024

13

What do I bring?

Bring your computer, big ideas, and a passion for how you can solve significant challenges with your keyboard!

14

Isn't hacking illegal?

Not in our context! In hackathons, “hacking” means building an application throughout the event. It’s not the same as gaining unauthorized access into computer systems, which is illegal.

15

I'm under 18. Can I still attend?
